Man Jumps off Lagos Third mainland bridge

An Eyewitness account said a middle aged man jumped off the 3rd mainland bridge in Lagos into the lagoon. The incident was reported to have happened around 5:30 pm today.

The man was said to have been dressed like he was returning from church and his driver was reportedly driving when he asked him to park beside the railings of the bridge before he dived into the water.

A crowd of people had formed at the spot from where the man plunged himself into the lagoon.

The Police arrived the scene but turned down questions from a Pulse reporter who immediately drove to the spot of the suicide.

The Police was reported to be hostile toward the Pulse reporter and were reportedly seen harassing and blaming the driver for the incident, even as the driver was explaining that he doesn’t work on Sundays and was only on duty because his boss asked him to show up at work.

“I couldn’t have thrown my Oga into the lagoon because he was seated at the back”, the driver explained tearfully.

The driver also corroborated eyewitness account of events.

Ambulances also drove to the scene soon after; but there was not much that was achieved as they were no divers available.
